the pad is a refugee from new york city, who lives and works in a hermetically sealed laboratory hidden among the silicon valleys of northern california.  he uses guitar, piano, synthesizer, organic matter, microphones and other technological wonders to conceive, produce and mix potions of sound, noise, word, texture, dissonance and occasional melody. when the pad needs sustenance, he writes, edits and produces various media under the guise of a human being known, to the collector of taxes, as gene bryan johnson.
